Welcome to my brand-new website (December ’25). I’m Sandy Caldwell and I’ve been a humanist celebrant with The Humanist Society Scotland since 2018. 

 

I lurk around The Central Belt, The Lothians, The Borders and Fife conducting wedding ceremonies and funerals closer to home in Edinburgh.  

 

My Style

 

I very much want couples to relax and enjoy their ceremony and the rest of their day. Have a look at the few reviews below. It’s slightly embarrassing blowing my own trumpet by way of these reviews (Along with quite a few more, these reviews are on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/sandycaldwellhumanistcelebrant/reviews?locale=en_GB). Essential elements in a wedding ceremony for me are humour and calmness. I really want your ceremony to be stress free and fun. I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve to help calm ceremony nerves. 

 

Booking Me

 

For couples getting married, it usually starts with a proposal, although secret proposal plans often go pear shaped which is what happened to me. Next is finding somewhere to have the ceremony. That can vary from grand castles to your garden or a stray hill somewhere. I even married a couple in my own back garden. Once you’ve settled on the where and when, that’s a good time to get in touch with someone like me. 

 

It's really simple. Check my availability (see link – this will take you to my profile page on the Humanist Society Website, scroll down a touch and you’ll find my calendar). Send me an email (sandy.caldwell@humanism.scot) or text/WhatsApp (07939 205787), I’ll reply, we arrange to chat either by WhatsApp, FaceTime etc or we can meet in person at my house. You chat about me for a couple of days and then decide if you want to book me. 

 

All my bookings are backed by the Humanist Society Scotland ‘promise’ that in the unfortunate event of something happening to me and I can’t deliver your ceremony that a replacement celebrant will be found. I’m delighted to report that I’m not susceptible to unfortunate things happening to me.
